LINA

Lina Cardoso Rodrigues was born in Germany in 1984. She started to sing in the Porto Opera Circle. At only 10 years old, she took the leading role in Gian Carlo Menotti’s opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” Later, still with the Porto Opera Circle, Lina Rodrigues also participated in the operas “Carmen,” “L’Elisir d’Amore,” and “La Bohème.” At 15, she began the Singing Course at the Conservatory of Music in Porto.

In 2005, Lina Rodrigues played the role of Amália Rodrigues in the musical “Amália,” where she demonstrated her taste and passion for fado. Subsequently, fado became a constant in her growth as an interpreter. Her talent did not go unnoticed by the renowned guitarist Mário Pacheco, who invited her to join his Clube de Fado. With Pacheco’s support, Lina Rodrigues made her debut on international stages with a show in Warsaw, followed by performances in countries such as the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, and Belgium.

In 2011, the film “The Consul of Bordeaux” was released in Brussels. In its score, Lina Rodrigues interpreted three pieces with music by Henri Seroka, including one with her lyrics. She has recorded three albums – “Carolina” (2014), “EnCantado” (2017), and “Fado Camões” (2024) – and has collaborated with the Catalan musician Raül Refree on a project that pays tribute to Amália Rodrigues. Lina continues to pursue her vision of reinventing Portuguese soul music, introducing a new edge to it.
